Does anyone out there have industry-typical ranges in terms of time or % of time, for project overhead. We sell short (3-5 day) engagements
handled by one resource online or at the client site. I’m trying to figure out what I should be expecting/targeting for overhead time.

By overhead, I’m referencing time spent:
- scheduling the engagement with the client
- consultant time spent reviewing client requirements and preparing for the engagement
- making travel arrangements
- traveling
- Submitting expenses and project review reports
- ie. the non-billable stuff that goes along with every project

Do people target these tasks individually, or do you shoot for a collective % of the project’s billable time? I’ve gotten good numbers
on industry-wide utilization and overall profit metrics but nobody seems to be talking about overhead that I’ve found.

Thanks!
