Senior Vice President, Professional Services & Support, ADERANT
1965 Datsun 1600 Roadster
North Pond in Lincoln Park, Chicago
What are three things most people don't know about you?

a. I’m a classically trained bass violin player and have played at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and toured Europe as a high schooler.
b. I have sung in The Atlanta Opera and sang backup for Andy Williams.
c. I’m an amateur actor in little theater and also was an extra in “Enemy of the State.”

What's been your greatest adventure in life?

Singing for Pope Benedict in 2006 and in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome for the High Mass of The Feast of St. Peter’s Chair.

What's your best childhood memory?

Going onto the field at Shea Stadium in 1965 and meeting the NY Mets and Lou Brock of the Cardinals.

If you could have a conversation with a person of your choice, past, present or future, who would that person be and why?

Thomas Jefferson - I find his breadth, depth, and zeal for life fascinating!

What's the hardest thing you've ever done in your life?

Put my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog to sleep when he was only 4 years old.

Tell us about your favorite hobby.

Singing - church choir, community chorus, opera, country, rock and roll. Every chance I get.

What are you currently reading? What is your favorite book?

Currently - The Thames by Peter Aykroyd - I’m fascinated with English history.
Favorite - The Stand by Steven King

Is there a particular place or thing you want to see?

I would like to do a safari in Africa.

If you could give $10,000 to a charity, what would that charity be and why?

The American Cancer Society. They touch so many lives and we’ve made such great progress in the past 10 years - you just think that perhaps we’re around the corner from a breakthrough.

If you weren't on the professional services career track, what would you be doing?

Playing bass and singing backup for Faith Hill.

What is the path that led you to Professional Services/Consulting?

I got into justifying “getting into the services business” at IBM back in the late 80’s. I really believed it and just followed the passion.

What advice would you give to a recent graduate who just took a job in professional services?

Get a frequent flyer number, keep your skills high - and BE FLEXIBLE!

Expiring Services - How do you handle?

Our company typically expires services 12 months from the purchase date.  The language in the contract clearly states that we will do this.
However, if there are large chunks of services left we will typically alert the Account Executive to offer an extension if the extension request meets certain criteria (Services are currently being used, active project is scheduled in the next couple months).

Question to the group:  How do you handle expiring services?  Do you alert customers or just have a hard fast rule on expiring them?

Thanks.
