Vice President, Services, Kronos Incorporated Talent Management Division

Loma Linda's - Toledo, OH They have THE BEST margaritas!
What are three things most people don't know about you?

I am quite an open book!  It is really hard to come up with anything that others do not know.

What's been your greatest adventure in life?

I have moved around quite a bit which is always an adventure (especially with 2 children, a husband and a dog).  Over the recent years I have moved my family from Atlanta to Toledo, Ohio.  Toledo to Detroit. Detroit to Boston.  Boston to Portland.  My youngest daughter had lived in 4 cities by her 4th birthday.  Needless to say, my children adapt well to change and make friends quickly!

What's your best childhood memory?

Many, many hours in my grandmother’s kitchen making homemade Italian meals for our family gatherings.

If you could have a conversation with a person of your choice, past, present or future, who would that person be and why?

I would want to talk to my grandmother again.  I would want to share with her all of the things that I have been able to do over the years, tell her about my girls and thank her for helping me become the person that I am today.

What's the hardest thing you've ever done in your life?

Starting up the first professional services strategic services business in a product company!  I made a ton of mistakes. The second time was so much easier!

Tell us about your favorite hobby.

I spend all of my spare time either on a soccer field watching my girls play competitive soccer or on a basketball court watching them play basketball.  I wouldn’t change it for the world!  I used to play a mean game of golf...someday I will pick that back up again.

What are you currently reading? What is your favorite book?

I have about 10 unread books next to my bed from “Differentiate or Die” to “When Generations Collide”.  I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge.  My favorite business book is “Good to Great” by Jim Collins.  Personally, I love all books by John Grisham.  Right now I am reading “The Innocent Man”.

Is there a particular place or thing you want to see?

Italy.  My father is from there and I really would love to spend some time there.

If you could give $10,000 to a charity, what would that charity be and why?

The American Cancer Society.  I have had quite a few friends and family members affected over the years.

If you weren't on the professional services career track, what would you be doing?

Probably something in national account sales.  I love working with customers and helping them find solutions to their challenges.

What is the path that led you to Professional Services/Consulting?

I love building things, working with clients and finding solutions to challenges.  Those things are all needed in professional services.  Over the years, mentors have pushed me to this line of work.  They were absolutely right given my passion and strengths.

What advice would you give to a recent graduate who just took a job in professional services?

Get a broad experience base - sales, marketing, operations, G&A - so that you can be most effective and credible in helping your customers solve their challenges.

Expiring Services - How do you handle?

Our company typically expires services 12 months from the purchase date.  The language in the contract clearly states that we will do this.
However, if there are large chunks of services left we will typically alert the Account Executive to offer an extension if the extension request meets certain criteria (Services are currently being used, active project is scheduled in the next couple months).

Question to the group:  How do you handle expiring services?  Do you alert customers or just have a hard fast rule on expiring them?

Thanks.
